What happens after a winner is chosen?

Aside from confirming their acceptance of the scholarship within 7 days of being notified, winners may be asked to submit or confirm basic biographical information (name, country of residence, and professional/academic status) for publication on CNP’s website and social media pages.

How many times can I re-apply?

At present, there is no limit on the number of applications you can submit. We strongly encourage all applicants to save their application content, should they not win the scholarship on their first submission and wish to re-apply.

If I don't win, will my application automatically be considered for the next award cycle?

No. New submissions must be made during each window in order for the applicant to be considered for the CNP Course Scholarship. CNP does not store previous applications. I'm not from the United States. Can I still apply?

Yes. The CNP Scholarship program values diversity and accepts applicants from around the world.

About the Program

The Center for Nutritional Psychology (CNP) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that connects you with research, education, and other resources in the field of nutritional psychology.

CNP sponsors three scholarships for NP 110: Introduction to Nutritional Psychology Methods, offered twice yearly, to support access to nutritional psychology education. Scholarship Applications are accepted during two time periods each year: December 1st—February 1st and May 1st—July 1st.

We understand that the cost of higher and continuing education can be prohibitive. To address this barrier, we aim to provide students, professionals, and other interested individuals who cannot access our courses with the opportunity to study nutritional psychology.

By providing this opportunity, we aim to raise awareness of the relationship between diet and mental health, as well as the importance of incorporating nutrition into mental healthcare. CNP strives to provide equitable learning opportunities and promote inclusivity for all drawn to this field.

Before you apply

Eligibility Requirements

All applicants must meet the following requirements to be considered for the CNP Course Scholarship program.

Be at least 16 years of age
Submit all information listed on the application, with attention paid to correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
Possess and demonstrate genuine financial need, such that it would be extremely challenging or impossible to enroll in NP 110 without receiving this scholarship.
Possess and demonstrate genuine interest in the field of nutritional psychology, with relevance to the applicant’s education, career, or personal goals.

Sylvia Paola Gomez Paredes

Psychologist, Therapist, and Educator

Sylvia Gómez is a Spanish-speaking psychologist, therapist, and educator who supports emotional well-being through clinical care, university teaching, psychoeducation, and community-based mental health programs in Ecuador. As a CNP Scholarship recipient, she will use NP 110 to deepen her evidence-based understanding of nutrition’s role in anxiety, emotional regulation, and the gut-brain axis. She hopes to advance Nutritional Psychology across Ecuador and Latin America by translating this knowledge into culturally accessible education for communities, schools, universities, and vulnerable populations.

Brian Spina

Food Scientist

Brian holds a Bachelor of Science in Food Science and works as a research and development scientist. Through NP 110, he aims to develop an evidence-based understanding of the relationship between dietary intake and mental health, applying this knowledge to ingredient selection and product development. By integrating Nutritional Psychology into food science research and practice, they hope to broaden the field’s interdisciplinary reach and promote greater consideration of mental well-being across food systems.

Vanessa Thulisile Mukundwa

Public Health Systems and Disease Control

Vanessa Mukundwa is a public health nutrition professional and civil servant in Zimbabwe who coordinates nutrition programs and supports maternal, child, and adolescent health within under-resourced communities. Through NP 110, she aims to develop an evidence-based framework for integrating Nutritional Psychology and mental health-informed leadership into nutrition, maternal health, and crisis-response systems. Vanessa hopes to advance person-centered care, strengthen workforce resilience, and inform policies recognizing the interconnected roles of nutrition, mental health, food security, and community well-being.

SCHOLARSHIP FAQ

Recipients of this scholarship obtain access to NP 110: introduction to Nutritional Psychology Methods, which is the equivalent of $299 USD. Course access cannot be redeemed for a check, cash, or other form of currency.

Please read the eligibility requirements listed above on this webpage. If you still have questions about your eligibility status afterwards, please write to us at contact@nutritional-psychology.org.

Please submit your application between December 1 and February 1 for the February selection, and between May 1 and July 1 for the July selection. Winners will be chosen and notified by the 20th of February and July, respectively. Please save your application content, should you not be selected and wish to re-apply in the future.

Winners are selected on the basis of financial need alongside demonstrated interest in nutritional psychology. Relevance to education, career, personal factors, and potential for expanding the field are also taken into consideration.

Awardees will be notified via email by the 20th of February or July depending on which period applications were submitted for. Awardees have 7 days to accept the scholarship offer. If acceptance is not received and confirmed by CNP within 7 days, another winner will be selected. Those who applied but did not receive the scholarship will be notified as well.
