Martin Fishbein’s Legacy: The Reasoned Action Approach
The Reasoned Action Approach, developed by Martin Fishbein, has established itself as a leading framework for understanding and influencing human social behavior. Central to this approach is the theory of planned behavior, which has garnered extensive empirical validation. Research has demonstrated that behavioral beliefs, normative beliefs, and control beliefs form the foundation for attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control, respectively. Collectively, these factors account for significant variance in behavioral intentions. Furthermore, both intentions and perceived control have been shown to effectively predict actual behaviors.
