Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a chronic autoimmune neurological disorder in which the immune system mistakenly attacks myelin, the protective covering of nerve fibers in the central nervous system. This can disrupt communication between the brain, spinal cord, and the rest of the body, leading to symptoms such as fatigue, weakness, sensory changes, vision problems, coordination difficulties, and cognitive changes. From a Nutritional Psychology perspective, research is exploring how dietary patterns, inflammation, oxidative stress, and the microbiota-gut-brain axis may relate to neurological and psychological functioning in people with MS.
