Impact of Ketogenic and Low-Glycemic Diets on Inflammatory Skin Conditions
Diet is increasingly recognized as a tool in dermatologic treatment, with ketogenic and low-glycemic diets showing promise due to their anti-inflammatory and metabolic benefits. This overview examines their effects on various inflammatory skin conditions like acne, psoriasis, seborrheic dermatitis, atopic dermatitis, and hidradenitis suppurativa. Findings suggest that low-glycemic diets are particularly effective in managing acne. However, the evidence supporting the use of ketogenic diets for other skin conditions is still sparse. To fully assess the potential of these diets, further research, including randomized clinical trials, is necessary to determine their effectiveness as primary or complementary treatments for these dermatological issues.
