CNP’s Mission: Integrating Nutrition into Mental Healthcare by 2030
Since 2008, when the first nutritional psychology course was introduced at JFK University, mental health professionals have gained valuable insights into how nutrition affects mental well-being. Initially focused on theory and education rather than treatment, this course marked a groundbreaking step in the field.
By 2012, the program expanded into a comprehensive 7-course online certificate, reflecting the growing interest in nutrition’s role in mental health. To keep pace with the latest research and developments, CNP was established in 2015 as a hub for tracking and applying emerging scientific evidence linking nutrition and psychology.
In 2021, CNP became a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, committed to building a global research repository and shaping university-level continuing education programs. Their goal: to fully integrate nutrition into mental healthcare by 2030.
Today, CNP offers the world’s first evidence-based, university-level continuing education curriculum connecting the science of psychology and nutrition. They also contribute to the development of a standardized language for this emerging field and are building a worldwide network of professionals passionate about improving mental health through nutrition.
