The effects of probiotics on mood and emotion

This 2018 article considers the influencing role of probiotics in behavior and brain function, and promotes further investigation into the possible relations between the gastrointestinal tract and the CNS since preliminary human and animal studies had observed the anxiolytic effects on the CNS of several probiotic formulations containing Lactobacillus/Bifidobacterium. The early studies began implicating probiotics in the mechanisms behind the connection between the gut and the brain thought to modulate anxiety-like behaviors.
