Gut microbiome and depression: How microbes affect the way we think

Limbana et al. (2020) considered the beneficial effects of the gut microbiome on mental health, and thus conducted this literature review searching the PubMed database for studies pertinent to the gut microbiome and its relationship with depression. After analyzing the 26 studies that met the inclusion criteria, this review discovered a strong association between microbiome function and mental health.
