Content validation of the teacher food and nutrition-related health and wellbeing questionnaire, a Delphi study
Ensuring the personal health and well-being of schoolteachers is essential for delivering high-quality teaching, promoting positive student outcomes, and supporting teacher retention. However, there is a shortage of validated tools to specifically measure food and nutrition (FN) aspects as part of teacher wellbeing. Jakstas et al. (2025) evaluated the use and content validity of the Teacher Food and Nutrition-related Health and Wellbeing Questionnaire (TFNQ) as a potential tool for assessing teachers’ wellbeing. A two-round Delphi procedure was employed, with the first round focusing on lifestyle variables (LC) and constructs, while the second round concentrated on refining the questionnaire’s wording, scale appropriateness, and structure. The second round focused on refining wording, scale appropriateness, and questionnaire organization. The first round involved 23 international experts, with 19 participating in the second round. Following the first round, seven constructs and three LCs were removed, while two constructs were restructured into four streamlined groupings to improve the TFNQ. By round two, 83% of experts agreed with the questionnaire’s structure, and only minor adjustments were needed. There are three LCs and 26 FN and wellness structures in the finished TFNQ. This study successfully established the content validity of the Nutrition-related Health and Wellbeing Questionnaire (TFNQ), paving the way for future evaluations of its construct validity and reliability.
